I have been a long time cooler camper/off-roader but now I am in the big leagues of ice cold refreshments on the trails! I love my bodega it performed flawlessly on a 4 day Offroad trip in steamy July weather. I used the child seat hooks to secure it to the seat not shown in the pictures. 1st gen Tacoma double cab for reference.
I am impressed how easy this cooler is to use, how quiet it is, and how fast it cools down. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
We have plugged it in and tested it according to the directions. We have not put it to use yet, but so far so good.
This compact little cooler/fridge/freezer is pretty amazing. I tested it by putting 6 bottles of room temperature water inside and setting the fridge temperature to its lowest -4 degrees F. The fridge started with a reported temperature of about 70 degrees F. After about 12 hours, the fridge had reached 7 degrees F and the bottles of water were mostly frozen. Another 12 hours later, and it was sitting at -4 degrees with the bottles completely frozen. This thing can be a freezer!
The lid seems to insulate well, because while cool to the touch, it doesn't feel icy, even along the edges. The motor makes similar sounds to that of a standard refrigerator, but just much quieter.
We already had the 38 quart big brother of this cooler, and we regularly run it off a portable power station. If we make sure to pre-chill the coolers and load them with frozen or cold items, we can switch them over to the portable power station and run them for almost an entire day.
These coolers are a little pricey, but they're incredible convenient and require surprisingly little power to run. This smaller 25.9 quart version seems to do an even better job of cooling than our larger version. I'm really looking forward to taking it on our next family outing.
I sat this in room temperature just to test it. It was upper 70s in the house. Quickly went down to -4F inside according to the digital readout on it. Was certain super cold inside. Of course that was empty, might take a little longer loaded up. Super quiet too. Can't wait to use it in the Jeep out on the trail!
